The upper represents Lands End’s rocky terrain and the various laces nodding to the ocean and tints of the Golden Gate Bridge. Other details, like the shoe’s green insoles are inspired by the area’s eucalyptus trees, with the labyrinth-like pattern representing a destination point at the lookout.⁠

The retailer mentioned it chose Lands End Lookout as an inspiration for the shoe due to San Fransisco being in its backyard and as a way to honor how the historical landmark has helped to shape Bay Area culture. ⁠

The Shoe Palace x New Balance 2002R “Lands End” is expected to drop on July 13 for $150 USD on the retailer’s site.⁠
