It’s been all love and support during my FYC moment but it’s also been eye opening - the people who say they are rooting for you but don’t show up when you could use that support. The ones who seem to suddenly forget how you talked up their projects or music, creative endeavors, books on and on. I have always shared that spotlight with people. I’ve brought dozens of people into my world and shared the ride, shared the wisdom and sometimes shared in the profit only to later not even have them show up when my parents were sick or maybe your career has a slide, you watch as they just keep going without even a simple consoling let alone reaching out a hand. You learn that in life that is rare. It’s rare for you to extend that and rare for you to receive it so knowing that it makes me closer to the real ones and it makes me realize no matter what in this life do not expect just give. I can’t tell you how much my heart is filled by the real ones in this moment sharing the FYC, sending flowers, sending us voice txt of truly awesome kudos. I won’t forget it. I don’t. And when your moment to shine happens I will remember how you made mine glimmer even more. #danecook #danetrain #standup #comedy #emmyfyc
