As it would turn out, I wasn’t quite ready 😝 Some things I wish I knew, pre-Olympics: ~ The little things are actually the big things. Enjoy them! ~ Pace yourself. It’s a 3.5 week marathon. There is enough time to see and do everything. ~ Nobody really cares what you’re doing or how you’re doing it. Do your best with what you know right now. Similarly, no one is paying attention to what you’re eating in the cafeteria. ~ Write things down. All the things. You will not remember as much as you think. ~ Lean in to the ‘noise.’ It’s not going anywhere. ~ Put your phone down. No one is ever going to watch 800 videos of opening ceremonies. The feeling doesn’t translate anyway. ~ Meet people from other sports! Different athlete perspectives are interesting and you might learn something. ~ You are not too cool for the village arcade. ~ Canada house is the sh*t. ~ Use the resources available to you. Everybody wants to help! ~ Take an extra minute on the ice for reflection. You did the thing! I recently found the letter pictured in the last photo at my parents’ house. It was in an envelope titled ‘DO NOT OPEN UNTIL 2010’ 🤦🏼‍♀️. I had to blur out a section of it because it is SO cringe 😅. Keep dreaming and Happy Olympic Day!
