Alice Godwin (@alice_godwin_art) speaks with acclaimed German choreographer Sasha Waltz about her dance, "In C," the democratic nature of the piece, and its celebration of life and human connection for "Gagosian Quarterly."

Waltz devised “In C" during the dark days of lockdown in Berlin, seeking a reminder of the joys of life and the body even as theaters remained closed. Inspired by Terry Riley’s masterful composition from 1964, considered the first Minimalist piece of music, the dance comprises fifty-three sequential movements that may be repeated as many times as desired.
