In an essay for HuffPost, guest writer Megan Aronson opened up about being on the verge of divorce after 10 years of marriage — and then getting a second chance.

“Shortly after we started dating, Kory injured his back while helping his grandmother. As he slipped into a devastating opioid addiction, I watched my kind and gregarious husband morph into a different version of himself. … After a decade of failed interventions, I’d given up hope that he would ever find sobriety,” Aronson wrote.

Then her mother-in-law told her something that “set off a panic alarm inside.” She told her that Kory said he “could just go take the kids from the school anytime he wants.”

“Feeling angry and betrayed, I started the process of filing for divorce. … I was ready to start a new life without him.”
