BACKGROUND Busy salon backgrounds can be really distracting and can cause focusing and lighting issues. Lighting orbs, clients trying to enjoy their appointments, and station mess are things to avoid when capturing photos and videos. A helpful solution is a backdrop that can be stored and put away when you aren’t using it 2. LIGHTING Depending on what you are trying to showcase, lighting can make or break everything. Being near a salon window or door in indirect lighting is a great go to, but depending on the time of day, the lighting can sometimes be wayyy too bright. A great solution to this is pulling down the brightness on your camera and video (tap and drag the little ☀️ down) and lowering your ISO on your camera! 3. POSES/ANGLES Knowing how to pose your clients is a very helpful skill. Help them feel comfortable and safe and give them lots of direction. I often save lots of poses on my Instagram and have them ready to reference when getting my pictures. Take pictures and videos from all angles to create lots of content! Shots taken from lower angles elongate the hair and shots taken from higher angles help focus on color placement! Bonus tips: 🌟 -Turn off salon lights when taking pictures and videos to avoid distractions. -Ask your guests to wear neutral tones if they ask for advice for what to wear (black/brown is always best with blondes/brondes) -have your clients sit on a stool when taking shots so they can be encouraged to sit up straight but also more comfortable! -make sure you are looking at the photos/videos you’re taking to make sure you’re not missing errors!
