When I was a kid growing up on the South Shore of Long Island, I would lie on my bedroom floor with my head between two, large A&R speakers (I couldn’t afford headphones) and it was Beatles, Stones, Who, Zeppelin. Every day. Throw in some Cream, Zappa, Pink Floyd, The Doors, CSN, Bee Gees, Yes, Santana, Allman Bros, America. On and on.

Back then, my father posed the question, “ What if no one ever took up the violin again. What if no one passed on that talent?”
