I’m so proud of the team that has made this event possible. @edwardbaxter98 @johnbailey4 you two are some of the hardest workers I’ve ever known and made this event that was just a small idea a few years ago, grow and come true. Over 110 people enabled us to deliver it, over 7300 spectators came to watch and well over £100,000 injected; we ran one of the best swimming events this country has ever seen outside of a Major Championships. Thank you to everyone who made it possible from the athletes, coaches, spectators, officials, volunteers and the members of the core team. Non of this would have been possible without you. Sport and the way we consume, watch and interact with it needs to change and it’s great to be able to have the right people alongside us to steer it in the right direction. Being an elite athlete, I have an obligation to make sure I leave this sport in a better place than where I came into it. Many people speak of change but are unwilling to invest themselves into actually doing it. Attaching onto this, I want to say a big thank you to everyone who has sent me messages about my recent interview on BBC regarding my mental well-being and the balance that I’m searching for in the quest for the Olympic Games and beyond next summer. You have to be very courageous to be open and fair to yourself, never mind sharing it with the rest of the world and I hope that this way I can help many other people conquer their demons and find the help that they need.
