We pay respect to Elders both past, present and emerging and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This year’s theme, Be a Voice for Generations, urges all Australians to use their power, their words and their actions to create a better, more just Australia for all. It is an opportunity to better understand how to commit to and make active changes, embedding a way of being that has reconciliation as a priority; through active, deep listening and learning from First Nations peoples. Throughout National Reconciliation Week and far beyond, we encourage all to talk, listen and learn from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders peoples, and recognise the strength and resilience of all Stolen Generations Survivors and the continued role we all play in the healing process.
