Having grown up taking classes, I’d remembered how much fun I’d had back then, and wanted to experience that carefree feeling in my life now. Yet, at 36, two kids, and some life later, I couldn’t bring myself to make it into a dance class. I was terrified and got into a pattern or signing up and bailing out over and over again. Terrified at feeling ridiculous, old, insecure, and whole list of other names my perfectionist brain came up with. The idea of just dancing for joy was the farthest thing from my mind until Joy became my teacher. Quite literally 👏 @joydenverspears has been my teacher over the last few months. I am a big fan of therapy and talk about it a lot on @asuperbloompod . But the last few months have felt like a whole new therapy I didn’t know how much I needed. A therapy of stomping it out, shaking it off, falling on my butt, and laughing at myself. Slowly I began to let go of how the moves looked in the mirror, and remembered the importance of how it all felt. Joy, thank you for helping me find my joy in dance again.
