Whales are incredibly important to the ecosystem and our survival on the planet. We almost drove whales to extinction during the height of the commercial whaling period 75 years ago. They still haven’t recovered. We need to preserve and protect all whales. Great whales help fertilise the oceans, and sequester tons of carbon in their lifetime. We need whales in our battle against climate change. And yet Iceland is going to starting fin whales again in June. This needs to end now. Please write to the Prime Minister and the Minister for Food, Agriculture and Fisheries and urge them to stop commercial whale hunting. This could end today.
