At “The Naked Comedy Show,” a monthly showcase in Bushwick, Brooklyn, stand-up comedians deliver jokes in the nude, often to a sold-out crowd of 75 people. If public speaking is among many people’s greatest fears, and stand-up is worse, this show represents the Everest of anxiety. “This is the most vulnerable you can be,” said one naked performer, Carolyn Bergier. “That’s what drew me in.” Billy Procida, the producer and host of the show, has been performing comedy without clothing since college. He says he looks for diversity when booking comics — not just of race, gender and sexual orientation, but also body type. His main criteria: Are they funny and, obviously, willing?
