I have been an admirer of Menahem Pressler for some time.
He passed away May 6.
Born in Germany, he brought his talents to THE UNIVERSITY OF INDIANA JACOBS SCHOOL OF MUSIC, beginning in 1955.
A moving interpreter of Debussy, he was one of my favorites. He recorded among the most achingly beautiful (and by far slowest) versions of CLAIRE DE LUNE I have heard. (Arrau, Kun Woo Paik, Buniatishvili, and Lang Lang are my other favorites)
99 years old.
One of the greats.
