The Prince of Wales check, a sartorial pattern with a rich British heritage, has always been an integral part of our collection. The checked pattern, originally named the Glenurquhart Estate Check, was registered in 1840 in the Scottish Register of Tartan Records. It wasn’t until the then-Prince of Wales, King Edward VII, visited the estate on a hunting trip that he observed the pattern, liked the design and wore it so much that it garnered the nickname “Prince of Wales Check”.⁠
