The new issue attacks a new angle of the contemporary field, with « Temple – made in Japon ». We could dream of this distant and often fantasized exoticism, this overseas culture. However, what interests us in the end would be what is made, the image of Japan, the aspect of making in its energy, its excesses, its virtuosity, what it displaces in the universes and habits, the habits and customs, the resolutions and the use of the technology. To make from a culture, to make from a technique, to make from a place, to make from a matter, to make with.« Temple – made in Japon » is possibly the thought of the elsewhere or the aesthetics of the diverse dear to Victor Segalen, this multiplicity and the manufacture of a glance which accompanies it.
