The effects of drought and food insecurity have left children in the country at great risk of diseases, including measles. Health centres mobilize workers who reach out by text messages, phone or in person to make sure children have access to vaccination services. “Outreach is very important to reach the child who cannot come to the health centre and the mother who cannot come,” says Kawther, a 24-year-old clinical health and social worker at Jilab Health Centre.
