Cute lounge pics looking a bit meh? Consider getting a point and shoot camera!

iPhones have made significant strides in camera technology of course, but there’s something a bit more 🤌🏼 when using a point-and-shoot camera instead of your iPhone for taking content.

FLASH: On my camera (canon G7x) you can choose to have the flash always on, the examples in this reel are with the flash on during the day and I just adore the way it highlights your jawline, lashes etc and makes your hair really glossy. I find my iphone dulls everything out and you lose definition in your face.

Image quality: Point-and-shoot cameras generally have larger sensors and more advanced optics than the cameras found in smartphones, which means they can produce higher-quality images with better color accuracy, range, and low-light performance. I find myself adding a super chill “no edit” or “aesthetic collection” @wanderwithpresets rather than something that’s going to change the image a lot as it’s already really great!

Zoom: Many point-and-shoot cameras offer optical zoom lenses, which allow you to get closer to your subject without sacrificing image quality, I always find this helps me with posing angles and adds to the overall composition of me in the frame. Smartphone cameras, on the other hand, rely on digital zoom, which can lead to pixelation and a loss of detail of course.

Point-and-shoot cameras are designed for photography and videography only which means they have dedicated easy to use controls that allow you to quickly adjust settings such as aperture, shutter speed, and ISO making sure you get that perfect shot BEFORE having to edit in post.

Battery life: Using your iPhone as your primary camera can drain your battery quickly, especially if you are using features such as flash or live view, I always shoot in raw which ruins my iphone battery as well as taking up loadssss of space.
A point-and-shoot camera, on the other hand, has a dedicated battery that is designed to last for hundreds of shots, I just choose my favs… send them to my phone on wi-fi, add a #wanderwithpresets and I have an awesome photo every time 😍
