‘Sometimes I get so far into my head that I forget anything else exists.’ In truth, I’ve always been like this. When I’m feeling creative and have ideas running through my head, I can sit alone with my thoughts and come up with a million different ways to bring them to life. I forget to answer emails and sit down to a meal, and am so focused on my ideas that nothing else seems to exist. It’s a rush and often feels like there won’t possibly be enough time in the world to make my ideas a reality, but it’s exhilarating nonetheless.

But sometimes, when I’ve crawled so far into my own mind I find those corners of self doubt, of overthinking and become almost paralyzed with indecision. It’s that third option that never is brought up when we talk about some great disaster happening; you always hear about ‘fight or flight’ but ‘freeze’ is just as common.

I’ve come to realize that it’s neither a strength nor a weakness, but something that just is. And sometimes I just need a reminder that of course there is a whole world out there, a gentle reminder to not get so lost inside that I forget the outside was always there too.
