To begin unpacking this topic, our editor facilitated conversations between two independent fashion designers—Sandy Liang of @sandyliang and Hillary Taymour of @collinastrada—and content creators who frequent their pieces. Liang, who views her brand as an “extension” of her inner child, has garnered a cult fanbase that finds belonging in her references to things like flower-printed fleeces and Sailor Moon toys. Meanwhile, Taymour has carved out a niche by working to fill gaps in the womenswear market such as pants that *actually* fit great.
