It’s Good Friday. The reality of this life is that we do walk in valleys deep. There are shadows towering over us- but we are not alone. My faith tradition tells me that the valleys and the shadows - the shootings, and the greed and the evil - all of it… it’s not the end of the story. On Easter Sunday we celebrate that death has been swallowed up in victory. And until we see that victory in its totality, God will walk beside us in every valley and every shadow- every loss and every pain. On Good Friday, we hold the reality of the pain in the world with the hope of redemption and restoration that comes on Easter Sunday. I always feel heavy on Good Friday, because freedom and redemption came at a cost and that cost was great. But it was given freely to us. And I can’t wait to celebrate that on Sunday.
