One characteristic feature of the #IWCIngenieur Automatic 40 is the dial with its striking grid-like patterning, which consists of fine lines offset by 90 degrees from each other. The lines are stamped into the blank with an embossing tool before galvanizing. The IWC logo is meticulously positioned on the grid to an accuracy of a thousandth of a millimetre. The appliqués with their luminescent coating provide additional depth on the dial and make it easy to read the time even at night.
