As I was being supported in recovering from this dark place it was obvious I didn’t feel like I had an identity outside of Sophie Pascoe the swimmer. So, with thanks to my amazing life advisor (more importantly my friend) @annasimcic , who presented this opportunity to myself, I applied for this programme with the support of my friends, family and team. On day one of participating in this programme I gained immediate confidence that there is a place in the business world for me post swimming. As you can imagine for some athletes it’s a scary transition when all we have lived for a long time is our sport. I have an incredible mentor that this programme has provided me with and she has shared with me amazing networks that constantly keep expanding into connections and opportunities I never thought I would be receiving. But most of all I am beyond grateful to have gained confidence in myself for what the future holds along with creating another family of incredible women, athletes, mentors and supporters to guide, learn from and challenge me through these next steps as I focus on transitioning into the business world, while I continue to balance this alongside swimming and representing my country on the world stage.
