She was such a fearless explorer connecting with and learning from caribbean cultures to create works of art, movements and written work that are undeniably heartfelt, timeless and uniquely Katherine. I’ve started to realize that the women we look up to says a lot about who we are. I became more mindful of who and why I gravitate to certain female figures and often sit with what that says about my desires, needs and insecurities. For me this Women’s Day feels different. What it means to be a women feels different for me now, as being feminine has never felt like a powerful thing in my eyes. Leaning into this feminine body and spirit honoring her as she was given. No longer looking at its weaknesses and limitations as such but rather the place that redirects us to where our power does lie.
