You’d think I’d experience FOMO when my old friends send me pictures of them out at bars or hanging with each other and Yes, at one point I thought I would miss my old life but I don’t even in the slightest bit. You would find me often at some concert and I went out a lot with friends going to events in Los Angeles since I lived there for over +10 years but I think motherhood made me realize that I didn’t have a life to miss before my daughter came along. For me, a more purposely joyful filled life began the day I met her.

I shared this on my story a couple days ago and wanted to explain what I meant by it because I feel like it’s such a great topic to talk about:

No, your life will not be empty and devoid of meaning if you don’t have kids. We’re each responsible for determining our own purpose. A life without children is not empty, unless you choose to leave it that way and a life with children can be filled with all the wrong stuff.

The choice to have or not have children doesn’t automatically make your life more meaningful. It’s all down to how you fill your time, whether that’s with caring for kids or not.

Your life is your own and no one else gets to decide what it’s all for. Not the looming weight of social media expectations, not your parents who are desperate for grandkids, and definitely not your friends that are having kids all around you!

It is perfectly okay to decide not to reproduce tiny humans. Work out what YOU care about and what’s the right path for you to take for your future; …bring THAT into the world, care for it, protect it, value it. Let it be your life’s work, meaning, and purpose.

If life feels empty, fill it up. Kids are not the only thing that brings purpose filled joy. Although I am happier being a mother, that doesn’t mean you will be and that’s perfectly okay! ☺️
