Sometimes the most powerful forms of imprisonment, slavery and oppression are created by attachments to our identity and the relationships we create through them: relationships to people, places, careers, experiences… where once an action or form might have served to help us express, over time it can be that it is no longer expression or creation. It is conforming to what has been .

Question: if there’s something you’ve always wanted to do for yourself but choose not to for whatever reason, is that love? Or fear?

Having been blessed with a very full and forgiving head of hair, I’ve been super lazy about brushing it, or fixing it. This can take on the appearance of “care free “ and non vanity. But considering that whatever shape my hair was in it would somehow come out looking wild but stylish, was my attitude toward it truly carefree? Or identification WITH being carefree ?
I woke up on this particular morning, prepping for my annualish haircut, and caught myself thinking, “ hm…maybe it’s time for simple bangs to help cover the ever deepening wrinkles in my forehead and to cast a bit of shadow over my healing right eye.” Carefree???

… So I #shaved it off. #inspired by my #daughter @siennAnemone, and her #bravery in choosing to experience herself free of what she called “hiding behind” her hair… I dove right in and will simply be present with what unfolds internally.

In the least, it’s an experiment in #nonAttachment and I will have given myself the experience I’ve long been curious about.
