Once I made the shift to coaching full time after being a competitive athlete, I discovered and realised a lot of things. On the one hand, I could relate to the athletes I was coaching because I had just been there and that gave me a valuable connection with the gymnasts. On the other hand, I was constantly becoming more and more aware and understanding of everything that my coaches had been through. It is not an easy job! It is extremely demanding, emotional, and intense.
