Far be it for us to get in the way of a good story, but our fire alarm is just one of several interesting sounds the amazing Echo the lyrebird has had in his repertoire for some time.

He has also mastered a crying baby, power drill, a wolf whistle and a number of different bird calls. Although it has been documented, it isn’t very common for wild lyrebirds to mimic human or artificial sounds.

All lyrebirds are individual with the sounds they mimic and they create their own repertoire of these sounds to use during the breeding season to attract a mate!
