We reached and reached but never found anything we liked. Every single friend who was in real estate told us not to buy, the market will crash and prices will drop. Like a needle in a hay stack I found an off market 1930’s Spanish home in Palm Springs off a Facebook group. We viewed the property once and put in a all cash offer at 925k. Although the home was absolutely stunning it needed a lot of work to make it our dream vacation home. It took us about 1.5 years and about 700k to complete. One might say, “wow that’s just not worth it”. I decided to not hire an architect or designer to save money. I literally designed every fireplace, bathroom. I had a adobe vision for this home and never thought we would sell. About 6 month into the project we brought on @_tanyastone_ to help with our project and it was an amazing decision. She was instrumental in finishing this project. Some might say…. “Oh well you have a successful husband to invest in this project”. And I say to that. Doesn’t every business have an investor? Family member? Is that any different? No. Fast forward to 2022, the market was blazing hot and we decided to list our dream vacation home. A friend at the time was going to be out listing agent. I wanted to come on the market at 3.5 million. He said I was insane. I wouldn’t budge. In the first few days after we listed we got 50k ABOVE asking price. We sold the house mindfully furnished with high quality finishes. I poured my heart and soul into this project and it “paid” off. Design does matter, character does matter. Passion does matter.
