And only 3 days later I was on my way to my hometown of Yaroslavl, Russia for the funeral of 39-year old cousin Andrey, who died last Sunday while running a 10k (the second photo was taken right before the race). He was so energetic, young, healthy, ran marathons, laughed a lot, led a fast-paced life… It’s crazy how everything can change in an instant. One phone call and an entire family’s life is turned upside down. I’m sad that I hadn’t seen him in 4 years. I’m sad that I wasn’t very engaged in the family group chat that he created. I’m sad that his two amazing kids will have to grow up without a dad. I’m so so sad that he’s gone. I’m grateful that my dad and I made it to Russia in time to say goodbye to him (which was no easy feat given the current political situation) but also feel so empty from the grief and drained from the travel. Losing Andrey so unexpectedly is definitely making me re-think my priorities and what’s important in life, although I wish I could’ve seen it earlier. I already miss him so much 😢」9月4日 13時49分
