In 1959, Seiko released the Alpinist, to meet the needs of mountain climbers and recreational field sports enthusiasts. The iconic timepiece was a new departure for Seiko and marked its entry into the sports watch arena.

Today, the Prospex SPB243 pays homage to the 1959 Alpinist, inspired by its distinctive design, decorated with mountain-shaped markers at the six, nine, and twelve o’clock positions.
