I have two INCREDIBLE nannies who have been with my family for years and who are some of my nearest and dearest friends. My father lives with us and is always there. I have amazing friends and family who are constantly around bringing joy to our lives. 2. I have a husband who loves to be home with us and shares all the tough parts of parenting with me. 3. I have a career that I love and that’s been incredibly successful which gives me the financial privilege of spending a lot of time with my family. 4. Because of said privileged life, I have had access to abortion, used it and chose the right time to have children, with the right man. I CHOSE to have children. Because I WANTED them so much. I wanted to be a mother. I wanted to spend time with my family. I could afford children. I was able to live my life to the fullest before having children. They are not a burden but a joy. Because of laws like SB8 in Texas, these choices are now gone for so many women. And the women affected most are the ones living below the poverty line. They don’t have the privilege to wait and have babies when they want them and can truly give them the time and attention they demand. They won’t have the privilege of finishing their schooling and figuring out what they want to do with their OWN LIVES first. It’s heartbreaking. I read so many stories of child abuse and it’s laws like SB8 that will make child abuse statistics soar in the coming decade and longer. It’s staggering to think that in this day and age, people in power can talk about the right to choose when it comes to vaccines, but will dare take the right to choose from women when it comes to child birth. It’s state enforced pregnancy. It’s brutal that something which should be such a blessing is now a curse on so many women who can’t afford to travel out of state for help.
