With friends like these...

I first met @jeremiahfraites in 2014 over pizza. I'd just returned from an assignment in Africa and he was as excited about my stories as I was about his. We became fast friends and shared a lot in the process. Intimacy in adult friendships can be hard to foster, but where it exists, it's beautiful. I owe a huge piece of my journey with my own mental health to him and his amazing wife @francesca_laz as they invited me into their lives. @wesleyschultz and I became friends later, and he and his family with @brandybschultz were equally as kind and full of love.

When I first heard this song, I was sitting next to my partner on a plane and she noticed I was crying. Every time I've been privileged enough to hear the music as they quietly release it to a few ears, I've had the same response. To listen to them evolve and create and articulate the complexity of the human experience through the work they put out is always emotional. It's strange to say you're proud of people your own age, but I am so proud of them and so honored to be alongside them in some small way as they continue to shine.

It can be hard to have friends who glow so brightly. In a conversation with Wes during a particularly rough period for me, he said that perhaps hope is the most punk rock thing in the world right now. I couldn't agree more. I love you guys. Thanks for bringing such light to the world. I'll happily sit in the shine.
