So many that some of them blur together over time and I forget specific details, or cannot fully recall the locations or the changes to the treatments. #BeautifulThieves, for example: I remember we filmed it at some "mansion" (read: once opulent '90s build fallen into deep disrepair, now rented to rock bands for video shoots) out in the Valley, not to be confused with the "mansion" (same thing but a turn of the century Craftsman) in Central LA where we filmed #HiddenKnives, or the less mansion-ey, rather altogether unfinished home (it was literally still being built) in Studio City where we did #17Crimes. I remember we wore suits, there were a ton of extras milling around all day, pretty good crafty, I played a vintage Slingerland or Leedy kit, I think. The video treatment involved us infiltrating a socialite party. @DaveyHavok spikes the punch, I stare awkwardly at some poor guy for an uncomfortable length of time, @JadePuget sits at a bar without a drink while @HunterBurgan chats up someone by the pool, then everyone dies, fade to black. Revisiting, it is a good video - not life-changing at all - but a good video. What WAS life-changing happened a few days earlier when the band convened in a hotel room at The Standard on Sunset to be fitted for our suits. The small room was filled with racks of clothing, the four band members, the stylist, our manager and Smith. There was barely room to maneuver, much less get dressed, and four different conversations happening simultaneously made me start to feel a little overwhelmed so I stepped out onto the balcony to grab a moment alone. A few moments later, the sliding glass door on the balcony adjacent to mine opened and out stepped the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. She had an accent and an unusual first name. I repeated in my head over and over but, of course, still forgot. This made calling her room later to ask her on a date a little awkward. It worked out though, and I quickly learned that beyond being a super-dime, she was also the coolest, funniest and smartest person I had ever met.
