I’m always so grateful when a co-writer says to me “We can beat this…” I hear so many songs from other artists on the radio and think to myself “…So ya went with the first draft, huh?” People often get stuck and just go with whatever’s the least cringe. But if you take your time, sleep on it, drive around listening to it, pull it apart and put it back together again, you may stumble across something unique. Some people write fast and turn out bushels of songs a week and that’s great- but my personal philosophy is that there’s nothing wrong with taking your time and combing through your imagination to find something special.
