Ah!! ✨🎉 I wanted to create a clean and healthy nail care brand that was environmentally friendly, good for your nails and cruelty-free! I wanted to fuse my background of fashion and story-telling into the DNA of Color Dept. to help you see color in a new way! I first fell in love with nails in my early twenties. I worked at my brothers super cute trendy nail salon at the time in Silver Lake called Gloss Nail spa when I was 20 as the front desk salon manager. It was there that I learned the bonding experience of self-care with your gfs, the ‘me’ time people craved through getting your nails done. It was something that had an impact on me because that was the first time I got to experience self-care and learned to appreciate it. I became obsessed with nail polishes, nail art, experimenting with new colors and getting my nails done while working there. Every time there was free time, I asked one of the technicians to polish my nails because I wanted to match my outfit that day; it just always made me feel prettier! I would get mani/pedis once a week as that was one of the fun perks working at the salon- it made me a little spoiled & obsessive to change up my nails weekly and match my mood with my nails! The idea to fuse nails with fashion was a no brainer for me after working there! So a decade later, I’m so happy that I’ve come full circle with nails again and created my own nail brand, Color Dept. My experience working at the nail salon has stayed with me ‘till this day and has inspired me to live a life of self-care first, to always have ‘me’ time and create this fun, healthy nail care brand for you in hopes you will always make time for yourself!
