息子とお風呂に入っていたら雷が鳴った。

「パパ、雷で死んじゃわない？」
息子が心配そうに聞いてきた。

「大丈夫だよ、生きてるよ」
そう返すと、不思議そうに私を見上げた。

「生きてるってどういうこと？」
「お話ししたり、抱っこしたり、一緒に寝たり出来ることかなあ。命があるってこと」
「命ってなに？」
「うーんと……ここに心臓があってドキドキしてるでしょ？」

雷ひとつで「命とは何か」を考えさせられる。
子育てって面白い。

When I took a bath with my son, it was thundering.

He asked me,
“Did Daddy die?”
I said,
“He is fine. Of course he is alive.”
“What does alive mean?”
“It means that we can talk, I can pick you up, we can sleep together. We have life’”
“What is life?”
“Hmm.. You can hear your heart beating, right?”

It’s just thunder.
But now I’m wondering “What is life?”
It’s fun, raising a child!
