When i was looking for baby clothing it was the height of lock down and everything had sold out so i did have a panic plus on top of that i found the sizing so confusing so I'm talking you through the pieces and the sizes that got me through those first months. I would highly recommend going for multipacks in vests and sleepsuits, that's basically all Raine lived in during her newborn stage and in terms of sizing i would always suggest that if in doubt...size up! Everything was pretty big on her for a while that's for sure but at least you get your money's worth out of it all. The basics for me were a couple packs of vests without sleeves in newborn size and then a couple packs in the 0-3 months size (If your baby is due in winter I would also look into vests with the long sleeves depending how cold it is). Alongside the vests i would stock up on sleepsuits, i love the zip up ones for ease but the popper ones are also great especially those with poppers all the way up the front so your not having to pull anything over babies head. Raine was a summer baby so i found some nights i would scrap the sleepsuit and have her swaddled in one of the vest options.
