In memory of Galen Rowell. Ten years ago today Galen and Barbara Rowell died in a plane crash. Galen was a legend, friend and mentor to me and to many. He defined an entire genre of photography for the world. This is an image of Galen (right) @conradclimber (center) and Rick Ridgeway (left) preparing to embark on a 300 mile unsupported journey across the Chang Tang Plateau in Tibet in pursuit of the endangered Chiru and on assignment for @ナショナルジオグラフィック. It was a life changing expedition for me. Here's to Galen.
