My freshman year at THE U (University of Miami) was a roller coaster of highs and lows. I got badly injured and had to sit out my entire season. I stopped going to class, team meetings and - like a fucking idiot - I left school in December without taking any of my midterms. Just said, I’m out ✌🏾 I lied to my parents, coaches and teammates. Eventually, it caught up with me and I was placed on academic probation in danger of losing everything. My scholarship, opportunities etc. It was at a time in my life where it seemed like everyone was telling me I was fucking up - and I was. These days, it’s called depression. But back then it was called “get your fucking ass off the couch and get your shit together”. I was at a crossroads that so many of us go thru. I realized I wasn’t alone and asking for help isn’t a weakness - it’s our power. I turned my college life around, became academic captain of our football team and graduated with a Magna Cum Laude degree in scar tissue and fanny packs 😂✊🏾 Finally, a BIG SHOUT OF RESPECT & GRATITUDE to our phenomenal actor @ulilatukefu who beautifully brought to life a very defining rollercoaster of my highs and lows.
