Using the Selective Tool, utilise the Radial Filter option, click on your image and drag your finger down the screen to create an oval or circle - whatever size and shape you need for the subject in your image. Then choose the invert button to invert your selection, so that everything BUT your initial selection is now selected for editing. At this point, play with the Light, Colour and Effects tabs, to up the Exposure, add Contrast, lift the Shadows or drop the Clarity. Use the Eraser to ‘rub out’ any of the applied brightness on a part of your image you don’t want it applied - for instance here on my arm on the left of the photo. This is a super simple way to brighten your background without affecting the brightness of your subject. And I find myself using this tool every time I edit my Reel thumbnails! I hope it was useful!
