An estimated 5.6 percent of Americans identify as lesbian, gay bisexual, transgender or queer — a higher percentage than ever before, according to a new Gallup report.
The report also found that younger Americans are increasingly likely to consider themselves part of the LGBTQ community: Nearly 16 percent of Gen Z consider themselves something other than heterosexual. That compares to just 2 percent of Americans 56 and older.
