To see who had come all the way from Canada because of their baskets. One lady, Margaret cried as we sat together, saying it was 'today' that she felt like a real human—finally feeling seen and worthy. She’s been a basket weaver her entire life and nobody has ever cared about who she is and what she does. Companies have put their label on her work and never looked back. But on this day, she said someone from Canada came to see her and ask about her craft—and she finally knew that she and her work mattered. THIS is why we do our work. THIS is why Obakki exists.
