At the start of Onward, Ian is lacking in confidence, which results in him being shy and a bit socially awkward. As a kid I had the same awkward and shy energy that Ian had. I tried to play it safe. Sometimes I would begrudgingly venture out of my comfort zone when I was encouraged to by friends and family. Eventually, I realized that a lot of my personal growth came from those moments where friends and family encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone. Their support fuels me every day and I'm incredibly appreciative of it. It's been immensely beneficial for me to remain curious about many different things. Being able to make connections between different areas of knowledge has helped me solve problems in a variety of domains. Staying curious has also led me to meet a number of interesting, brilliant, and kind people that I now consider a part of my professional network.
