It wasn’t until high school, my Mother and I decided to share a part of our culture to my classmates. We made spring rolls and brought them to school. I saw how food brought people together, even those who bullied me. It was powerful, and I was hopeful for the future. Fast forward to 2021, seeing the violence and hate crime against Asians ( not just in the US, but around the world ) I can’t help but wonder what happened, and where did it all go wrong? My story reminded me of how it’s possible to connect and help others understand. Like food, stories have the power to bring people together. Lets share our stories.
