This is where Ella spent most of her time during the this winter storm that wiped out our electricity and water. We lost electricity on Sunday night (early Monday 2am to be exact) and water on Tuesday morning. Both were restored on Wednesday night. Overall we did really well. We have a gas stove and were able to cook warm meals and a gas fireplace to keep us warm in the single digit temperatures. We had plenty of food and water, flashlights, batteries and candles, we were very lucky. The worst part was having little to no cell reception, not being able to check on people or let them know we were okay was rough. We did however get lucky and manage to send out a few texts and calls. One of those calls being my brother whose house we ended up driving/sliding on ice to on Tuesday evening to avoid another night with no heat in single digit tempts and another from Priscilla (@zira_pug) who was also offering her house up to us.

Without electricity, cell service or internet I kept busy by digging out a path for Weldon and Ella who refused to potty on the snow. I got carried away as you can see by the video I posted here. My husband and I also sectioned off the living room with sheets and tarps to contain the heat from the fireplace. We filled buckets, the bathroom tubs and every container we could find with water just in case, they came in handy when we woke up to no water on Tuesday. We also moved a mattress into the living room and slept in front of the fireplace. We faired well and are so incredibly lucky, many others weren’t and are still struggling without water and food.
