After many nights, the Aurora Borealis, often called the northern lights, vibrantly appeared! The moon had set, allowing for very little light on the mountains or river. The northern lights reflected on the river, illuminating it, and some of the mountains too! The curtain of light reached into the night sky. It was more powerful than I imagined it would be! I wanted to capture the lights as they swayed in the sky. I selected the EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM lens set to 16 mm to get the wide angle of view of the aurora through the sky. I set the shutter speed to 20 seconds as my maximum setting to get the stars as points of light and not lines as star trails. Setting the f-stop to 2.8 allowed as much light as possible for a lower ISO setting.
