Racism is rife - in Hanau, in Germany and in the rest of the world. This tragedy is just one bloody symptom of a deeply rooted condition that permeates all aspects of our society. Let’s have an open ear for what those affected have to say and actively engage with their words. And to those of us - myself included - who benefit from white privilege everyday, educate yourself, seek those uncomfortable conversations and listen attentively. This is the bare minimum.
