People would rub it on you and it took forever to take off! In Rio, the carnival meant full blown parades and street parties everywhere. I first saw images of it in the Brazilian magazine ‘Manchete’, which we could get in Lima. When I started going to Brazil, I discovered it fully. Even if this year we cannot live it, I remember so many moments shooting in Brazil during the carnival, capturing the celebration and excitement. _ A vida durante o carnaval tem uma energia especial, mais vibrante do que em qualquer outra época do ano. Eu cresci em Lima, e para mim o carnaval nas ruas significava se esconder dos balões de água que podiam cair em cima de você a qualquer momento; e fugir de ser pintado com graxa de sapato, que é tão difícil de tirar! No Rio, carnaval significa grandes desfiles e festas nas ruas. Eu o vi em fotos pela primeira vez na revista brasileira 'Manchete', que chegava a Lima naquela época.
