This weekend, we're celebrating Cooper’s 11th birthday! Cooper, a yellow Labrador Retriever, is the most senior TSA Explosives Detection Canine and, boy, does he still have a paw-sion for safety. Born in Alabama, Cooper was part of the very first class of four-legged heroes to come out of the Canine Performance Sciences Program at Auburn University. He learned how to use his powerful sense of smell to keep us safe from security threats. Cooper spent years sniffing around Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) on his mission to find dangerous items that could affect aviation operations. Cooper is now living out his golden years in the Green Mountains of Vermont, where he’s one of the K9s on duty at Burlington International Airport (BTV). Cooper is the best at giving high-fives, posing for pictures, and most importantly, keeping travelers safe each and every day.
