In 2012, I went to the American Academy of Dog Grooming and my business quickly picked up. We started offering African American at risk youth the opportunity to become dog groomers through internships – within 3-4 years we trained and employed over 50 kids. I was born in West Africa and didn’t have a dog until I was 15, but quickly realized this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. The pandemic has been hard – we lost 80% of our business and nine employees. I had to reopen as a single man operation. I’ve been going through grants and savings, and luckily my landlord has been very kind, but I’m just trying to keep the lights on until things change. I believe in New York. I think we’re going to come back stronger. We even started the Pandemic Pup Relief Fund, offering free grooming services to pet parents who have been financially impacted during this time. The best way to help is to use local services. Instead of buying food from the big box stores, give us a call. Buy gift cards. Every new dog is important. If it’s a good fit, support it.” @dogfatherofharlem @puprelieftour #AllInNYC #NYCStrong」2月6日 4時09分 - thedogist
